The Walt Disney Company is hiring a Senior Gameplay Engineer to build the future of XR experiences across our entertainment segments. In this hands-on role, you will directly write code to implement interactive experiences based on Disney's robust portfolio of characters and worlds, collaborating daily with design, production, and art teams.
What You'll Do
- Help implement a collection of interactive experiences based on Disney's portfolio.
- Be an active, hands-on participant, directly writing code and working daily with design, production, and art to establish and achieve project goals.
- Implement experiences primarily using Unreal Engine.
- Empower designers by serving as their main support avenue during development.
- Find creative ways to overcome hardware limitations while maintaining a positive outlook.
- Work closely with engineering and creative teams to ensure implementation quality, advocating for stability and flexibility.
- Champion Disney and team values, maintaining a 'guest-first' mentality by advocating for the audience experience.
- Serve as a key team member of a growing XR development team at Disney.
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of experience developing console, PC, mobile games, or other digital interactive entertainment.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5+ at the native C++ level.
- Participation in the creation and release of a commercial product in a hands-on programming role, including being a main author of a major gameplay system.
- Experience serving as a programmer during the prototype phase of a project, understanding the different requirements between prototyping and production.
- Understanding and ability to implement at a production-quality level: C++ code (Performance Impact, Memory Management, Inheritance), Client/Server architecture (Replication, Client-side Prediction, Movement Syncing), and Game Mathematics (Linear Algebra, Vector Math, Kinematic Physics, Collision).
- Ability to guide other engineers.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice to Have
- Shipped products for Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, or other VR platforms.
- Graphics Programming, Mobile experience, or familiarity with Online Services.
- Experience with developing and publishing Unreal content.
- A broad understanding of XR experiences and the various devices available on the market.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary Range: $141,900.00-$190,300.00 per year.
