What You'll Do
Design and implement backend systems using Java and Spring Boot to power a new football-based gaming product, with plans to expand into additional sports. You'll play a central role in delivering the initial release on schedule, ensuring robust architecture and reliable performance.
Collaborate directly with a fellow engineer to rapidly develop and refine features, balancing speed with long-term maintainability. Your work will include iterating on the live product post-launch, improving functionality, and preparing the foundation for future game versions.
Take ownership of backend services while contributing to infrastructure and deployment workflows. You'll help shape DevOps practices, support environment stability, and ensure smooth releases. Close coordination with an external design team will guide UX and feature development based on evolving product needs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional backend development experience using Java
- Proven track record building production systems with Spring Boot
- At least 2 years working with infrastructure or DevOps tasks, including deployment support and environment management
- Experience primarily in backend development, with some exposure to front-end contributions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, small-team environment with shifting priorities and tight timelines
- Strong communication skills and comfort working independently in a remote-first setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with React for front-end components, though not a primary responsibility
- Background in designing systems for scalability and high performance
- Solid infrastructure expertise that can compensate for limited front-end involvement
