Borg is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Developer to envision and build systems that aggregate complex, graphical data into comprehensible descriptions of social networks. Our mission is to advance humanity toward perfect information, and you will be directly responsible for architecting the core products that accelerate economic growth and scientific innovation.

What You'll Do

Envision and implement crawlers and API clients that aggregate complex data into clear social network descriptions.
Architect efficient, reusable backend systems that drive complex web applications.
Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to deliver compelling products.
Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
Plan and coordinate data modeling and feature releases.
Design, implement, and validate UIs that present complex graphical data in comprehensible ways.
Build the features and user interfaces for Borg products like Hive.
Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems.
Mentor junior full-stack engineers.

What We're Looking For

5+ years experience envisioning and implementing complex, high-availability, high-throughput backend systems.
5+ years experience architecting and implementing complex user flows on the web.
JavaScript expertise, including asynchronous programming, closures, and types.
Python expertise, including asynchronous programming, meta-programming, types, and scientific python.
Deep expertise in at least one major web framework: FastAPI, Flask, Django, aioHTTP, or Pyramid.
Experience building scalable APIs and optimizing performance of complex SQL queries on millions of data points (we use PostgreSQL).
Experience with E2E testing (e.g., Cypress).
Demonstrated ability to use cloud-native technologies to build a robust, high-availability platform.
A growth mindset, balancing long-term engineering objectives with immediate development needs.
Highly collaborative with strong verbal and written communication skills.
You enjoy writing documentation and understand its value.

Nice to Have

BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Interest in sociology, anthropology, evolutionary psychology, game theory, or related fields.
Interest in design, user experience, or related fields.
Interest in and familiarity with online cultures, sub-cultures, and memes.
You are a power user of some social media platforms and/or a member of online communities.
1+ years experience writing serverless applications on systems like AWS Lambdas.
