Corning is hiring a Senior Engineer or Staff Engineer to lead the design, build, and automation of optical telecommunication measurement systems for active and passive fiber optic products. You will be a key technical contributor defining product performance and measurement methods within our global laboratory organization.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, maintain, and automate optical measurement systems for active and passive fiber optic products.
- Create, develop, and implement software dedicated to measurement systems.
- Define the properties and performance of new fiber optic products and develop appropriate measurement methods in cooperation with the technology team.
- Develop calibration methods and determine measurement uncertainty for devices and measurement systems.
- Plan and execute tests on products.
- Develop tools for the analysis of measurement data.
- Create procedures and instructions for conducting tests and developing results.
- Develop, implement, and optimize measurement methods.
- Prepare, analyze, and approve reports from conducted research and tests.
- Train, implement, and certify employees in applicable measurement methods.
- Work in an international environment (Global T&Q Laboratory Organization).
What We're Looking For
- Higher education and a minimum of one year of experience in the optical or fiber optic industry.
- Knowledge of measurements in optical telecommunications.
- Knowledge of metrology issues.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Knowledge of English enabling free communication in speech and writing.
- Knowledge and experience in programming using LabVIEW and VBA environments.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis issues.
- Knowledge of industrial standards concerning fiber optics (IEC, Telcordia, ISO).
- Very good work organization, ability to set priorities and oversee their implementation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
