The role:
As a Senior Engineering Lead in our Brokerage domain, you'll be the technical mastermind driving direction and delivery across multiple agile squads. Think big-picture strategy meets hands-on execution, with a laser focus on engineering excellence and collaborative culture.
💹 The Brokerage domain is our strategic powerhouse. We're talking investment products like Stocks, Crypto, and ETF trading, serving a rapidly expanding user base across the UK and EU. It's a complex, highly regulated space that demands smart, scalable, and rock-solid secure systems.
Our Structure 🌍🙌
Plum runs on cross-functional squads – Product Managers, Designers, Backend and Mobile Engineers, all working in tight-knit teams. These squads belong to domains, which roll up into Pillars representing our key strategic areas.
In this role, you'll own the Brokerage domain (currently part of the Wealth Pillar), overseeing two squads. You'll directly manage one team and support the other's Engineering Lead.
Your mission? Guide the technical vision, ensure killer delivery, and drive cross-team collaboration. You'll be tag-teaming with Product and Design leaders to align goals and elevate our execution game.
Your Key Responsibilities 🎯
- Drive engineering outcomes across the Brokerage domain, ensuring delivery matches product goals and business priorities.
- Lead and mentor Engineering Leads and Individual contributors, helping them build empowered, high-performance squads
- Partner with Product and Design to define technical feasibility and long-term vision for our brokerage services.
- Provide architectural guidance for complex, scalable, reliable, and compliant systems.
- Champion engineering excellence through robust delivery processes, code quality, and continuous improvement.
- Build a team culture that breathes impact, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Help shape Plum's broader engineering strategy and contribute to cross-pillar initiatives.
- Stay razor-sharp on emerging tech and regulatory shifts in the investment world, applying insights strategically.
Who You Are 👀
- An established engineering leader with proven experience scaling teams and managing leaders across multiple domains, especially in the Brokerage space.
- A master of balance – equally comfortable diving into code and zooming out to strategic oversight.
- Well-versed in building products within regulated environments, preferably in brokerage or fintech.
- A coaching wizard who develops engineering leaders, creates clear growth paths, and fosters team autonomy.
- Communication ninja who can align cross-disciplinary teams and distill complex technical concepts.
- Deeply user-centric, with a product-oriented mindset and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
- Passionate about continuous improvement, inclusive leadership, and building collaborative cultures.
