AECOM is hiring a Senior Engineer to join our Enterprise Capabilities team and partner with regional and global project teams to deliver technical expertise. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and planning of civil engineering infrastructure, leading small to mid-sized teams, and ensuring project delivery within budget and schedule.
What You'll Do
- Perform specific portions of broader engineering assignments.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
- Identify discrepancies in results.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
- Design and plan civil engineering infrastructure like earthworks, roads, stormwater, sewer, and water across various sectors.
- Guide junior engineers and technical resources, performing tasks independently to complete design deliverables.
- Coordinate, manage, or lead small to mid-sized teams on a project basis, including on international projects.
- Support project execution in line with AECOM Quality Management System requirements.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss requirements and explain or defend work.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree.
- 8+ years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Professional registration with ECSA.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D design software.
- Working knowledge of ProjectWise and BIM 360.
- Ability to undertake concept and detail design of civil infrastructural elements like earthworks, stormwater, sewer, water, and roads.
- Calculate and compile schedules of quantities.
- Keen understanding of standard specifications such as SANS and COTO.
- Assist with standard setting and be responsible for quality assurance of drawings and reports.
- Compile tender documentation including quantities and cost estimates.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in design software such as 12D Model, OpenRoads, and/or Microstation is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Dynamo for Civil 3D is advantageous.
- Experience with other international standard specifications or design guidelines.
- Suitable related experience in site supervisory roles on previous projects.
