The Senior Engineer - General Civils will join the Enterprise Capabilities team in South Africa, delivering civil infrastructure design across earthworks, roads, stormwater, sewer, and water systems. This role supports global projects by providing technical expertise and ensuring timely project delivery within defined budgets and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Handles defined segments of engineering assignments typically managed by experienced professionals.
- Collects and analyzes fundamental engineering data using established procedures.
- Executes detailed or routine engineering tasks involving calculations and straightforward testing.
- Develops strategies to address novel engineering challenges.
- Detects inconsistencies in data or results.
- Completes assigned work in line with approved budgets and timelines under moderate supervision.
- Designs and plans civil infrastructure including grading, roads, stormwater, sewer, and water systems across multiple sectors.
- Mentors junior engineers and completes design deliverables independently.
- May lead coordination of small to mid-sized project teams on a per-project basis, including for international assignments.
- Ensures project execution aligns with the organization's Quality Management System.
- Attends client meetings to discuss project needs and present or defend engineering solutions.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in 12D Model, OpenRoads, or Microstation is advantageous.
- Experience with Dynamo for Civil 3D is beneficial.
- Familiarity with international design standards and guidelines is a plus.
- Prior site supervisory experience on engineering projects is considered an asset.
