GE Vernova is hiring a Senior Engineer - I&C Systems Design to lead the design and analysis of Instrumentation and Control systems for the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor. You will be the technical expert guiding the engineering team through the full project lifecycle while mentoring others and interfacing directly with internal and external customers.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate accountability for the cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of your assigned tasks.
- Provide technical guidance, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the primary contact between the engineering team and both internal and external customers.
- Lead I&C System design and development from conceptual design through detailed design, fabrication, testing, and site commissioning.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional, performance, reliability, availability, maintainability, and failure mode analysis targets.
- Manage design scope for hand-off to suppliers, ensuring all system requirements, interfaces, and functions are implemented.
- Collaborate with supplier teams to develop, perform, and review system test plans, procedures, and reports for factory, site, and start-up acceptance.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Boiling Water Reactor plant systems engineering, controls, or operations.
Nice to Have
- Experience in nuclear analog and digital I&C with detailed knowledge of safety-related systems, hardware, software, and environmental or seismic qualification testing.
- Experience in Distributed Control & Information System application and deployment.
- Familiarity with plant system reliability, simulation, and cyber security requirements.
- Proficiency using industry standards.
- A clear, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset with strong decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and cross-functional facilitation skills, especially in preparing requirements, design documents, and technical presentations.
- The ability to work inclusively in a matrix environment, managing multiple priorities.
- A willingness to take full ownership of work scoping, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting in a schedule-driven environment.
- A self-starter attitude with positive energy, a bias for action, and a proven track record of delivering on commitments.
- A continuous improvement mindset focused on implementing better processes.
