The Senior Engineer - Building Civils at AECOM plays a key role in leading civil engineering design efforts across small to medium-sized projects. This position involves technical leadership, client engagement, and team mentorship within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary BIM environment, ensuring safety, compliance, and design excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Deliver discipline involvement in projects and ensure effective delivery input from others
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, drawings, and reports
- Conduct design development, design review, supervision, coordination, and design documentation
- Guide junior engineers and independently perform all tasks necessary to complete design works
- Share technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations
- Develop high-quality design outputs
- Perform hands-on design work
- Serve as lead engineer on small to medium size projects
- Provide specialised technical input to studies
- Engage with the client and other disciplines to develop solutions and design for specific areas of expertise
- Lead a design team of junior and mid-level Building Civils staff
- Provide daily mentorship, direction, and motivation to ensure AECOM remains an employer of choice for Building Civils skills
- Ensure assigned teams effectively coordinate with other disciplines to prevent design gaps
- Support construction supervision teams

- Ensure implementation of safety and integrity principles in civil engineering risk documentation
- Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities
What We're Looking For
- Ability to lead a design team of junior and mid-level Building Civils staff
- Proven experience in design of stormwater (hydrology), water (hydraulics), sewerage, bulk earthworks, roads, and pavement design
- Working knowledge of running a building civil engineering team in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- All project drawings are generated using BIM tools (Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, ACC360)
- Ability to interface with clients on schedules, meetings, and issues
- Manage client expectations and perceptions
- Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiate plans for alternative actions
- Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
- Support digital transformation strategy and implementation
