Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance Co is hiring a Senior Data Governance Advisor to ensure data quality, reliability, security, and accuracy through the data lifecycle. This technical role focuses on integrating and operationalizing data governance tools to embed rich metadata into processes, automate discovery, and create a vibrant data experience for consumers.
What You'll Do
- Act as top-level technical expert in implementing Enterprise Data Governance policy, vision, strategy, and tactical plans for assigned Auditable Business Unit(s).
- Ensure data improvement, accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, completeness, and compliance.
- Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions.
- Oversee development of standards to identify critical data issues and ensure data policy enforcement and compliance.
- Drive risk mitigation efforts by performing data risk assessments and developing recommendations to resolve issues.
- Further enterprise or Auditable Business Unit(s) data governance communication and change plans.
- Drive the information management lifecycle within assigned Auditable Business Unit(s).
- Provide top-level technical support and/or consultation on Enterprise Data Governance applications.
- Execute complex metadata management initiatives, including technical data lineage, data quality, and profile development.
What We're Looking For
- Ten or more years of relevant experience with data centric, data governance, or data management standards and practices.
- Experience in use and interpretation of metrics and solution scoping.
- Data application and practices knowledge.
- Ability to read a data model and reference data architecture.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings, and influence others.
Nice to Have
- Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, or a related field.
- Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience in analytically intense, data-intense, or data integration project.
- Insurance/financial services industry knowledge.

- Expected starting salary range: $145,000.00 - $219,000.00
