SAP Software Solutions | Business Applications and Technology is looking for a Senior Data & AI Engineer to join our team focused on the SAP-RPT baseline models family. You will be responsible for building and developing the technical foundations that power our AI innovations, developing high-quality end-to-end data pipelines, executing complex data extractions, and creating high-value datasets essential for our baseline model research and engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the development of the SAP-RPT tabular baseline model family, helping to shape next-generation predictive features for business applications.
- Design, build, and operate scalable data tools and pipelines to ingest, process, and organize tabular data at enterprise scale.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, locate, and define high-impact predictive tabular use cases for all SAP products and scenarios.
- Extract, clean, validate, and enrich data with a focus on quality, consistency, and governance; prepare datasets for model training and benchmarking.
- Collaborate closely with domain experts and application development teams to interpret data, metadata, and development artifacts and translate them into ML-ready signals.
- Work hand-in-hand with data experts and researchers, sharing data analyses, constraints, and nuances to ensure models are effectively adapted to SAP business data.
- Perform in-depth data exploration to identify patterns, edge cases, bias/leakage risks, and quality gaps that directly guide model development and evaluation.
- Influence data architecture decisions to enable reliable, secure, and efficient data access for both training pipelines and production deployments.
What We're Looking For
- PhD or Master's in Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in large-scale, high-performance data environments.
- Proven mastery of SAP S/4HANA, ABAP, and SAP GUI, with deep knowledge of relational business data and complex schemas.
- Strong ability to navigate semantic models (MDV, CDS, OData) and apply enterprise-level application logic to key business objects and underlying table structures.
- Proven experience with high-performance SQL databases and the SAP data stack (e.g., BDC, HANA, BTP), including building and operating native Cloud data pipelines.
- Strong Python skills.
- Solid foundation in machine learning with hands-on Python development experience applying AI to real-world problems, ideally in tabular/structured data settings.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading and supporting strategic data platform initiatives focused on enabling scalable data and creating value within the SAP ecosystem.
- Experience with Knowledge Graph technologies (e.g., RDF, SPARQL), metadata management systems, and/or ML-centric data models.
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating Python-based data/ML pipelines using technologies such as Databricks, Azure ML, Airflow, PySpark, Ray, and Azure Data Lake.
- Contributions to data science/machine learning projects focused on tabular (structured) data, from data preparation to model development and deployment.
