About the Role
The Senior Controls Engineer will lead the development and deployment of control systems for automated distribution and fulfillment centers. This role requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of control systems for automated material handling projects.
- Develop detailed control system specifications and architecture plans.
- Program PLCs, HMIs, and drive systems for material flow automation.
- Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers to integrate control solutions.
- Conduct factory acceptance testing for control system components.
- Provide on-site commissioning and troubleshooting support during system startup.
- Ensure control systems comply with applicable safety and industry standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for control system designs.
- Support project management with accurate engineering estimates and schedules.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on control system development.
- Diagnose and resolve complex control system issues in live environments.
- Evaluate new control technologies and recommend integration strategies.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure component compatibility.
- Develop and execute test plans for control system validation.
- Ensure software quality through code reviews and standardized practices.
- Interface with clients to understand operational requirements and constraints.
- Optimize control logic for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Participate in design reviews and technical risk assessments.
- Support after-sales service and system upgrades as needed.
- Maintain awareness of emerging trends in industrial automation and controls.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Experience with Siemens PLC platforms in addition to Rockwell.
- Knowledge of motion control systems for high-speed conveyors.
- Familiarity with robotic integration in material handling systems.
- Project management professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience working with international project teams.
- Advanced skills in data analytics for system performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation tasks.
- Background in large-scale distribution center operations.
- Experience with cloud-based control monitoring platforms.
