Kalepa is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Client Integrations team, focusing on building and maintaining external-facing APIs that power customer workflows. The engineer will design scalable backend systems, optimize database performance, and integrate with third-party services in a fast-growing AI-driven insurance technology environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build API endpoints
- Improve database and query performance
- Integrate with a wide range of third-party services
- Translate product requirements into reliable business logic
- Help diagnose and resolve customer issues
- Contribute to making the platform faster, more stable, and easier to use
- Collaborate with full-stack, data, ML, and DevOps engineers to build scalable backend solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building external-facing APIs or designing integrations with 3rd party systems
- Embody hustle and grit

- Take full ownership of work and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight
- Communicate proactively, surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders in the loop

- Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving
- Know Python (main stack)
- Experience with serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2)
- Experience with asynchronous workflows and cloud environments
- Comfortable with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL

- Experience with LLMs/generative AI
