Shape the backbone of a data-driven platform as a Senior Backend Engineer, driving the redesign and modernization of our core analytics infrastructure. You'll lead the transition of critical components from Ruby to Golang, ensuring systems are scalable, maintainable, and built for performance under heavy data loads.
What You’ll Do
- Lead architectural decisions and own the design of backend services, APIs, and database structures
- Refactor and rebuild background processing systems using Sidekiq, with a focus on reliability and responsiveness
- Optimize data flow and caching strategies to support real-time dashboards serving high-traffic workloads
- Manage end-to-end deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions, Docker, and container orchestration platforms
- Collaborate with product and frontend teams to deliver seamless, data-rich user experiences
- Enforce code quality through testing, documentation, and consistent style standards
- Use feature flags to enable continuous integration and safe, incremental rollouts
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in production and staging environments
What We’re Looking For
- Proven mastery of Ruby, with extensive experience in backend systems (5+ years typical)
- Hands-on work with Golang in production environments
- Solid background in REST API design and consumption
- Experience handling large-scale data ingestion and real-time analytics pipelines
- Familiarity with Rails, Git, and GitHub workflows
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Curiosity, problem-solving drive, and a commitment to team growth
Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or Kafka
- Background in mobile marketing or app development
- Work with data-heavy UIs such as customizable reports, charts, or tables
- Experience following internal design or development guidelines
