At TELUS, our Fuel iX team is looking for a Senior AI Engineer who is passionate about turning research into reality. You will be instrumental in implementing and integrating generative AI models to build tangible, production-ready solutions for global clients, applying best practices in coding, testing, and monitoring.
What You'll Do
- Apply AI systems and software engineering knowledge to develop solutions that directly address business problems.
- Partner with Data Science and Data Engineering professionals to solve complex technical challenges using effective Data & AI techniques.
- Take ownership of implementing and optimizing applied AI components for high-complexity, large-scale projects.
- Navigate and manipulate generative AI models, including LLMs, to create tailored prompts and solutions.
- Develop AI solutions adhering to industry best practices for moderation, security, monitoring, and compliance.
- Understand and apply Responsible AI concepts throughout all solution stages.
- Lead the design, measurement, and evaluation of AI model outputs, developing standard and custom metrics.
- Translate AI research and Proofs of Concept into robust, scalable, production-ready features.
- Drive the selection and application of appropriate evaluation metrics to ensure robust, unbiased, and performant AI solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in applied AI, with a foundation in machine learning, NLP, LLMs, and statistical analysis.
- Strong understanding of trade-offs between generative AI models and the ability to select the right model for specific use cases.
- Experience with data embeddings and vector databases, and understanding trade-offs to optimize data ingestion.
- Experience architecting and developing solutions that integrate generative AI with traditional software solutions with minimal oversight.
- Experience building and testing a server-side platform for API development and orchestration.
- Proficiency in Python and understanding of trade-offs between multiple frameworks and patterns.
- Skill in creating and adjusting prompts for complex AI systems to meet diverse project requirements.
- Familiarity with testing and evaluating AI systems using state-of-the-art methods and best practices.
- Hands-on experience deploying software on leading cloud platforms and utilizing AI tools like AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Services, and Vertex AI.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work alongside developers from multiple different areas.
- Ability to communicate complex AI solutions and concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
