UnitedHealth Group / Optum is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst for an elite actuarial team committed to changing health care. In this ALDP role, you will tackle demanding, diverse, and complex challenges, developing leadership and project management skills while solving sophisticated actuarial problems.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain actuarial models used for forecasting and tracking performance risks associated with Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans
- Understand and interpret the key drivers of health care trends, projecting expected revenue and cost
- Perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling to provide management with statistical findings and conclusions
- Perform quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and costs data
- Communicate the results of your work in a meaningful way to internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or related field
- On the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams
- 2+ years of Actuarial experience, with a focus on technical skill development
- Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Excel and SQL (Structured Query Language)
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the finance-related field of the health care industry
- Basic or higher level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System)
