The Security Engineer will join the Information Security team in a remote-first position, responsible for building and maintaining security systems across cloud and on-premise infrastructure. This role involves close collaboration with technical teams to embed security into development processes, respond to incidents, and uphold compliance with industry standards through proactive controls and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and maintain security solutions spanning cloud and on-premises environments.
- Monitor security systems, analyze alerts, and lead incident response with thorough documentation.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and work with IT and development teams to prioritize fixes.
- Create and refine automation scripts and tools to enhance security efficiency and response.
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle.
- Support compliance with standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA by implementing and auditing security controls.
- Stay current with emerging threats and evaluate new security technologies for potential adoption.
- Assist in developing and delivering security awareness and training programs across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in security engineering or security operations.
- Solid knowledge of cloud security platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with network and endpoint protection principles.
- Proven experience writing scripts in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Understanding of security frameworks including NIST, CIS benchmarks, and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Direct experience using SIEM, EDR, IAM, and vulnerability management tools in operational settings.
Nice to Have
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or AWS Security Specialty are preferred.
