Lindblad Expeditions was looking for a Second Mate - National Geographic Venture

Lindblad Expeditions is seeking a Second Mate to join the Deck department aboard the National Geographic Venture. This is a full-time, shipboard position based in Seattle, WA, where you will play a key operational role supporting the vessel's navigation and safety.

What You'll Do

  • Stand navigational watches and assist in safe ship handling and voyage planning.
  • Maintain and inspect lifesaving, firefighting, and other critical safety equipment.
  • Support the Chief Mate in deck operations, cargo handling, and stability management.
  • Supervise deck crew and cadets during maintenance, mooring, and anchoring operations.
  • Maintain ship's logs, charts, and publications, ensuring compliance with regulations.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid USCG Second Mate Unlimited Oceans license.
  • STCW endorsements, including proficiency in survival craft and advanced firefighting.
  • Proven experience in a similar role aboard passenger or expedition vessels.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, at-sea environment for extended periods.

Work Mode

This is a full-time, onsite shipboard position. The role is physically based on the National Geographic Venture in Seattle, WA.
