Coburn Place was looking for a Seasonal Children's Services Advocate

Coburn Place, a hope-centered and trauma-informed organization, seeks a Seasonal Children's Services Advocate. In this role, you will deliver essential, trauma-informed services directly to child survivors of domestic violence, planning and implementing educational activities while supervising children and volunteers.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure program services are delivered according to a voluntary service and trauma-informed care model.
  • Research, identify, recommend, and implement fun, educational, age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age 24.
  • Supervise and assist with all interactions with children, volunteers, and staff.
  • Assess and communicate children’s individual needs with parents and staff.
  • Plan and implement fun, educational, creative, and impactful activities for children and families in housing programs.
  • Assist in acquiring programming data and outcomes for client file documentation.
  • Assist in planning and implementing after-school and seasonal camp programming, including providing transportation and supervision.
  • Act as a mandatory reporter and engage with the Department of Child Services as needed.
  • Work with other departments to maintain knowledge of Coburn Place’s supportive services.
  • Ensure children’s program areas are regularly disinfected and maintained.
  • Actively engage program volunteers by providing supervision and job-related training.
  • Promote open and supportive communication within the department and across the organization.
  • Work with housing staff to ensure seamless and holistic services are provided to families.
  • Engage in meetings and workshops that enhance the organization's mission.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) in child development, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Two plus years of experience and/or training in education and childcare within a nonprofit setting.
  • A valid Indiana driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • A clear Department of Child Services (DCS) history, and clear criminal and sex offender background checks.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience working with child survivors of trauma and/or domestic violence.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desired.

Team & Environment

This position reports directly to the Children’s Services Coordinator.

This role is an onsite position.
