As a School Finance Manager, you will serve as an external CFO for a group of 5 to 8 charter or independent schools, delivering strategic financial guidance and operational support. You'll partner directly with school leaders and boards, helping shape financial policies, long-term planning, and organizational decisions grounded in equity and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial strategy for each school in your portfolio, including budget development, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Present financial insights and recommendations at board and committee meetings, translating complex data into clear, actionable guidance.
- Identify financial challenges proactively and implement solutions, either independently or by coordinating with internal specialists.
- Mentor and support School Finance Analysts and Specialists, strengthening their capacity and refining financial processes.
- Contribute to the evolution of finance products and services by participating in research, testing new methodologies, and sharing insights across the organization.
Qualifications
You bring substantial experience managing school finance functions, ideally as a senior financial leader within an educational setting. You’re skilled in accounting principles, comfortable using financial software, and proficient in Excel for modeling and analysis. Your ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels—including executive leadership—is essential. Strong organizational habits, strategic thinking, and a commitment to equity in education finance are central to success in this role.
Experience leading audits is a plus. The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of relevant professional or post-secondary experience and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
