Corewell Health is hiring a Scheduler to be a vital link in our patient care coordination. You will schedule patients for outpatient services, coordinate appointments across multiple departments, and provide specialized administrative support for orthopedic services and surgical boarding.
What You'll Do
- Respond to calls from patients, physicians, and office staff, determine urgency, and suggest appropriate referrals.
- Answer department telephones, prioritize, screen, and redirect calls, handle routine matters, and take messages.
- Schedule all patient appointments using the SMS scheduling system.
- Mail confirmation letters and preparation information for appointments scheduled more than three days out.
- Complete all types of outpatient registrations in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.
- Obtain insurance information from patient health insurance or managed care identification cards.
- Maintain forms in printers and demonstrate knowledge of all software and hardware computerized equipment.
- Work with individual physician offices and their office managers on obtaining correct scheduling information.
- Attend all required safety training programs and follow hospital exposure control plans.
- Demonstrate respect and regard for all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team.
- Manage the TYSABRI Outreach: Unified Commitment to Health (TOUCH) program through the Biogen website.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting (prefer registration/scheduling, unit secretary, or medical billing)
- 30 WPM typing speed
- Customer service experience
- Telephone experience
Nice to Have
- One year of secretarial training or equivalent experience
- Experience with One Contact, Epic, Outlook, 3rd party validation insurance websites, and medical terminology
