Kiewit Corporation is looking for a Sr. Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will report directly to the Project Safety Manager and be responsible for the successful field implementation and support of the Site Specific Safety Plan. You will assist in applying the project contract, client safety expectations, our corporate safety and crane procedures manuals, district standards, and all governing laws.
What You'll Do
- Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans.
- Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field daily based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work.
- Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute safety plans.
- Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and our policies, including accident/injury files.
- Assist with incident investigations and the implementation of effective solutions.
- Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with corrective actions.
- Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work.
- Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client-specific requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- 4+ years of previous construction safety experience, particularly with training coordination.
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to work productively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others in a team environment.
- Ability to perform work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within deadlines, with overtime and weekends as required.
- Willingness to work at various locations where conditions may vary.
