Boeing Australia is hiring a Safety and Airworthiness Engineer (Senior or Principal)

The Boeing Company is hiring a Senior or Principal Safety and Airworthiness Engineer to provide system safety engineering for the Boeing Global Services - Commercial (BGS-C) Modifications and Conversions portfolio. This pivotal role oversees safety initiatives across commercial programs including the 737, 767, 777, and 787 aircraft, as well as interiors and commercial-to-cargo conversions.

What You'll Do

• Conduct system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact.
• Identify safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporate into designs, operations, and procedures.
• Perform or review tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.
• Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
• Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, and validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
• Develop and maintain safety and corrective action plans.
• Assist with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.
• Ensure mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
• Contribute to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• 3+ years of experience in Commercial Modifications and Conversions processes.
• 3+ years of experience in Commercial System Safety Engineering processes (including but not limited to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree, System Safety Assessment (SSA), Certification Plans, and Zonal Analysis).

Nice to Have

• 10+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in presenting data to customers, suppliers, and program and site leaders.
• Experience in commercial aerospace safety processes is highly preferred; however, experience in defense aerospace safety processes will also be considered.
