About the Role
This position supports the development and certification of aerospace systems by applying safety engineering principles and regulatory requirements to ensure airworthiness across product lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Lead safety assessment activities for aircraft systems and components
- Develop and review certification documentation for regulatory compliance
- Perform hazard analyses including FHA, FMEA, and Zonal Safety Assessments
- Collaborate with design teams to integrate safety requirements into system architectures
- Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and other aviation regulatory standards
- Support integration of safety processes across engineering disciplines
- Conduct fault tree analysis and probabilistic safety assessments
- Evaluate system changes for impact on airworthiness and safety
- Participate in design reviews to verify adherence to safety protocols
- Develop safety verification and validation plans
- Interface with certification authorities during audits and reviews
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation safety regulations and industry practices
- Guide junior engineers in safety assessment methodologies
- Contribute to the development of safety case arguments
- Identify risks early in design phases and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support aircraft modification and retrofit programs from a safety standpoint
- Ensure traceability between safety requirements and system implementation
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve safety-related discrepancies
- Apply systems engineering principles to complex aerospace platforms
- Maintain configuration control of safety-critical documentation
- Support flight test planning with safety-focused input
- Assist in the development of safety-related certification plans
- Evaluate supplier-provided safety data for accuracy and completeness
- Promote a culture of safety-first decision-making within engineering teams
