Oklo Inc. is hiring a Safety Analysis Engineer

About the Role

The engineer will lead and contribute to safety analyses for reactor design and licensing, using modeling tools and engineering principles to assess accident scenarios, system performance, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute safety analysis methodologies for reactor systems
  • Evaluate design basis accidents and beyond-design-basis events
  • Produce technical reports supporting safety documentation
  • Apply thermal-hydraulic and neutronic modeling to accident scenarios
  • Collaborate with design teams to integrate safety requirements
  • Support licensing efforts with regulatory-compliant documentation
  • Perform uncertainty and sensitivity analyses
  • Review safety-related system performance under transient conditions
  • Ensure alignment with national and international safety standards
  • Identify potential risk contributors and recommend mitigations
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment workshops
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory guidance
  • Validate models against experimental or benchmark data
  • Communicate technical findings to cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to probabilistic risk assessments
  • Assist in the development of safety classification criteria
  • Review safety analysis assumptions and boundary conditions
  • Support root cause evaluations for design or operational issues
  • Integrate lessons learned from industry events into analyses
  • Document methods and results with traceability and clarity

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in nuclear or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with fast reactor or advanced reactor designs
  • Familiarity with passive safety systems
  • Knowledge of severe accident analysis tools
  • Experience in licensing or regulatory interactions
  • Proficiency with Monte Carlo or statistical analysis methods
  • Background in human reliability analysis
  • Experience with software quality assurance processes
  • Knowledge of international nuclear safety standards
  • Project management experience in technical environments
