Role Overview
This position is responsible for transforming business process designs into robust, production-ready technical architectures for robotic process automation (RPA) and AI-driven automation systems. You will collaborate with strategists, analysts, and engineers to define system structure, integration patterns, and operational guardrails, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise IT standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and automation teams to analyze process models and identify automation-ready components.
- Translate workflow diagrams into detailed technical architecture, including orchestration logic and system dependencies.
- Assess client environments to understand technical constraints and define feasible automation pathways.
- Design end-to-end automation ecosystems, specifying integration contracts, data flows, and environment strategies.
- Identify where personally identifiable information (PII) is processed or stored and apply appropriate compliance controls.
- Define non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and security for automation deployments.
- Lead design workshops with cross-functional teams to align on system boundaries, integration patterns, and implementation approaches.
- Present and justify architectural decisions to engineering, security, and enterprise IT stakeholders.
- Conduct pre-build walkthroughs to ensure clarity and alignment across development teams.
- Advise on tradeoffs between rule-based automation and AI-enhanced workflows, including risks and long-term maintainability.
- Support delivery teams throughout implementation to preserve architectural integrity and prevent scope creep.
- Establish evaluation frameworks, confidence thresholds, and monitoring standards for AI and RPA systems.
- Incorporate privacy-by-design principles and ensure adherence to regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
- Define safeguards for LLM-powered automation, including prompt governance and human-in-the-loop validation.
- Ensure all solutions comply with organizational security policies and audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years in solution or enterprise architecture with a focus on intelligent automation or large-scale system design.
- At least 3 years designing and deploying enterprise RPA solutions at scale.
- 1–3 years integrating AI components—such as LLMs, OCR, or NLP—into automated workflows.
- Proven track record delivering automation solutions from concept through production.
- Experience leading technical design sessions and facilitating cross-team collaboration in complex IT environments.
- Ability to convert business process models into executable technical designs without rework.
- Hands-on experience with major RPA platforms including UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism—covering orchestration, queue management, and governance.
- Familiarity with AI services such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Vertex AI, and concepts like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and prompt engineering.
- Solid understanding of enterprise integration via REST APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and secure data exchange across legacy and modern platforms.
- Experience designing under regulatory constraints, including data residency, encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and defend design choices to diverse audiences.
Preferred Attributes
- Active engagement in learning emerging trends in automation and artificial intelligence.
