At TELUS, we're seeking an RPA Architect to partner with Automation Strategists and Business Analysts in translating business process designs into detailed, build-ready technical architectures for RPA and Agentic AI solutions. Your core mandate is to produce system-level designs that engineering teams can execute without redesign, ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise standards.
What You'll Do
- Work alongside Automation Strategists and Business Analysts to review process maps and opportunity assessments.
- Convert business workflows into detailed technical architecture diagrams, defining orchestration logic and system dependencies.
- Assess client technical environments, evaluating constraints and proposing optimal automation architectures.
- Produce detailed system-level architecture diagrams, clearly defining integration contracts and where PII is processed.
- Specify compliance constraints and document non-functional requirements for scalability, performance, and security.
- Conduct structured architecture walkthroughs with engineering teams, providing clarification and guarding against scope drift.
- Lead whiteboarding sessions and structured workshops to align stakeholders on solution designs.
- Present and defend architectural decisions to engineering teams, IT stakeholders, and security review boards.
- Communicate tradeoffs between deterministic automation and AI-driven approaches.
- Partner with delivery leads to ensure architectural intent is preserved throughout implementation.
- Mentor engineers and reinforce architectural standards and best practices.
- Design integrated automation ecosystems with guardrails for AI, ensuring solutions are observable, secure, and compliant.
- Embed privacy-by-design principles and assess data sensitivity against regulations like GDPR and HIPAA.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years in solution architecture, intelligent automation, or enterprise system design with a production delivery track record.
- 3+ years hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise RPA solutions at scale.
- 1–3 years of experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into automation workflows or enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated experience producing architecture designs that progressed through full lifecycle implementations.
- Proven ability to translate business process diagrams into build-ready technical architecture artifacts.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major RPA platform (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism), including orchestration design and governance controls.
- Experience assessing current-state client environments and designing fit-for-purpose architectures within constraints.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities, including exposure to LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI), OCR, or NLP.
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns (RESTful APIs, microservices, middleware, event-driven architecture).
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions under data security and regulatory constraints like GDPR.
- Experience presenting and defending architectural designs to technical and security stakeholders.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for leading sessions and articulating technical tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated curiosity and ongoing learning in emerging automation and AI technologies.
