Penn State is hiring a Residential Youth Program Leader – Weather Camp

About the Role

Penn State is seeking a dedicated Residential Youth Program Leader for our Weather Camp and Advanced Weather Camp programs. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the around-the-clock safety, supervision, and well-being of minor participants, ensuring a positive and secure educational environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide 24-hour supervision and ensure the safety of minors participating in Weather Camp (June 22-26, 2026) and Advanced Weather Camp (June 28 – July 3, 2026).
  • Manage all aspects of daily program administration, including youth compliance policies and procedures, emergency response, and direct communication with the Program Director and Manager.
  • Handle medication collection, storage, verification, and oversight of participant health information.
  • Assist with the development of instructional content and deliver lessons and activities.
  • Monitor the safety, whereabouts, and actions of program participants at all times, including during non-instructional times.
  • Identify and respond to issues concerning participant interactions, behavior, mental health, and acclimation to the program environment.
  • Act quickly and calmly using sound judgement in any situation, handle sensitive issues or information, address behavior issues, and follow necessary notification protocols.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to obtain a PA State Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Ability to obtain a PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form.
  • Ability to obtain a Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Team & Environment

You will report directly to the Program Director and Program Manager, providing critical support for the successful operation of the camp.

Work Mode

This position requires onsite presence for the duration of the camp sessions.
