The University of Chicago is seeking a Research Technician to join a project investigating the role of the tumor microenvironment, specifically cancer-associated fibroblasts. You will provide technical and administrative support in a laboratory setting, executing experiments and managing resources under guidance from the principal investigator.
What You'll Do
- Work on a research project with guidance from the principal investigator and other laboratory members.
- Design and execute daily laboratory experiments.
- Conduct mammalian cell culture, 3D organoid culture, and molecular biology techniques like PCR, cloning, Western Blot, RNA isolation, and qRT-PCR.
- Prepare samples for metabolomic analysis.
- Keep detailed notes and record all experimental data.
- Work with mouse models, including breeding, weaning pups, and genotyping.
- Assist in the management of the mouse colony.
- Order, receive, label, and safely store laboratory supplies.
- Maintain and renew the inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Collect data to support research projects under direct supervision.
What We're Looking For
- Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences.
- Experience in handling and working with mice.
- Proficiency with molecular biology techniques, including DNA isolation, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
