About the Role

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is looking for a Research Associate to join the BMBF-funded project ‘Real-world laboratory for modern cybersecurity in research institutions’ (AIGIS-Lab). In this role, you will contribute to creating and implementing a zero-trust architecture specifically for research institutions, conducting security analyses, and evaluating architectures in real-world environments.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate on creating and implementing a zero-trust architecture for research institutions, including procurement, configuration, and evaluation.
  • Conduct analyses to identify security requirements in research institutions and their IT infrastructures.
  • Run test series to evaluate developed security architectures in a real environment, including evaluation and presentation of results.
  • Support project management by coordinating activities and communicating with project partners.
  • Prepare scientific publications and reports and present research results at conferences and workshops.

What We're Looking For

  • A completed university degree (master's or diploma) in computer science, IT security, information science, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, network security, and IT infrastructures.
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with zero-trust architectures or related security concepts.

You will be part of the AIGIS-Lab project team at Fraunhofer SIT, which is the largest contributor to the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity ATHENE.
