At Corewell Health, we are looking for a Registrar to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of critical patient registry data, supporting our mission to improve health, instill humanity, and inspire hope.
What You'll Do
- Identify cases by referencing primary and secondary sources of information, accessioning and conducting follow-up according to department policy.
- Uphold legal and ethical aspects including data security, release of registry data, confidentiality, and data transmission.
- Assign diagnosis codes according to the requirements of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS).
- Abstract registry data, including patient demographics, diagnostic procedures, history and extent of disease, therapeutic treatment and procedures, and physician-related information.
- Review registry data for completeness and accuracy, following up by reviewing primary and secondary data sources as necessary.
- Meet departmental quality standards during multi-source data abstraction into the registry.
- Perform data analysis and prepare reports within study parameters, such as patient care evaluations (PCEs).
- Participate in meetings and assist with reporting quarterly data findings, special studies, and quality control activities as directed by the manager.
- Ensure all data for the program is entered accurately, timely, and completely.
- Complete data validation and ensure accurate submission of data.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's Degree in Health Information Technician (HIT), Associate's degree in Cancer Information Management, or a nursing degree (RN level) or equivalent.
- Possession of the credential of Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) provides exemption from the educational or nursing requirements.
- CRT-Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) credential from AAAM (Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine) for Trauma Services specific (adult and peds).
- 1 year of experience with CRT-Tumor Registrar, Certified (CTR) credential from NCRA (National Cancer Registrars Association) for SHGR and CHS Cancer Registry Departments.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administrator (HIA).
- 2 years of relevant related experience, preferably in a registry setting.
- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) from the State of Michigan upon hire.
- CRT-Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential from AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) for Trauma Services specific (adult and peds).
- CRT-Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential from AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) for Trauma Services specific (adult and peds).

Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at the Musculoskeletal Center - 230 Michigan St NE - Grand Rapids.
