TEGNA Inc. is hiring a React Native - Fire TV

TEGNA Inc. is looking for a React Native Developer to build and optimize high-performance applications for Amazon Fire TV and other Connected TV platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver intuitive, large-screen experiences for millions of users, working at the intersection of media and technology.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain React Native applications tailored for Amazon Fire TV.
• Optimize for performance on large screens, including remote navigation (DPAD) and lean-back UI patterns.
• Integrate with native modules and custom Android code for Fire TV-specific features.
• Collaborate with backend, design, QA, and product teams to define and deliver intuitive CTV user experiences.
• Implement video playback functionality using ExoPlayer and HLS streams.
• Integrate SSAI/DAI ad tech, analytics SDKs, and other CTV-related tools.
• Address platform-specific quirks and optimize memory, performance, and stability.
• Work within CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and release.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional experience with React Native.
• Proven experience building and shipping apps for Fire TV or Android-based CTV platforms.
• Solid understanding of native module bridging in React Native with an Android focus.
• Familiarity with video streaming architecture and ad tech integration.
• Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating with product, design, and QA.
• Comfortable debugging device-specific issues in Fire TV environments.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with other platforms like Roku, Apple TV, or Android TV.
