Join a critical initiative advancing secure communications across Europe as a Quantum Communications Mission Support Engineer, based at ESTEC—the European Space Research and Technology Centre in the Netherlands. You will play a central role in supporting the EuroQCI Programme by analyzing and synthesizing complex technical inputs from diverse stakeholders, including ESA, the European Commission, Member States, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be delivering clear, well-structured technical documentation to support the Mission Advisory Board (MAB). This includes preparing briefing materials, background reports, and decision-support notes by consolidating inputs from multiple technical domains such as quantum technologies, space systems, optical communications, and ground segment engineering.
You will ensure traceability and consistency across all technical contributions, acting as a bridge between ESA’s technical departments and the MAB governance process. This involves producing high-quality memoranda, assessments, and preparatory documents that distill complex information into actionable insights.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be eligible for EU security personal clearance
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or a related field (BSc or MSc)
- Minimum of 4 years (MSc) or 7 years (BSc) in relevant technical areas
- Proven experience in quantum or secure communication systems, optical or satellite communications, and space systems engineering
- Strong analytical abilities and a track record of producing precise technical documentation
Preferred Background
- Familiarity with ESA or European institutional programmes
- Knowledge of quantum technologies or secure infrastructure frameworks
- Experience in advisory boards, technical reviews, or governance processes
