Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is looking for a Quality Engineer specializing in data. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of data within our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment. You’ll validate ETL processes, verify data mappings, and collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure business reports and dashboards reflect reliable information.
What You'll Do
- Validate ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes using AI tools.
- Verify source-to-target data mappings and test data transformations.
- Leverage AI CoPilot and Python to ensure reports and dashboards reflect accurate business information.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, business analysts, and developers to identify data issues, create test plans, and support defect resolution.
- Cover all primary quality activities including strategy, planning, standards, engineering, automation, and operations.
- Work on less structured, complex issues, serving as a resource for others.
- Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity by streamlining workflows and automating repetitive tasks.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in QA/testing with a focus on data warehouse, ETL, or BI testing.
- 3+ years of experience with SQL for data validation and test automation.
- 3+ years of experience with QA tools like HP ALM, JIRA, ADO or similar test management tools.
- 3+ years of experience writing test cases and executing manual and automated tests for data warehouses.
Nice to Have
- Strong understanding of Bronze/Silver/Gold data architecture in platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Scripting experience in Python or Shell for test automation.
- Experience in domains like Medicaid (Healthcare), Claims, and Providers.
- Exposure to AI/ML model validation or testing data pipelines for machine learning workflows.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts (star/snowflake schema, fact/dimension tables).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities.
- Strong understanding of data quality, data profiling, and reconciliation techniques.
