What You'll Do
Oversee daily laboratory functions, including workflow planning, test scheduling, and resource allocation to support geotechnical QA/QC initiatives. Conduct a range of laboratory tests on concrete, aggregates, and soil samples, with expertise in advanced procedures such as consolidation, unconfined compressive strength, triaxial, and direct shear testing.
Supervise field and lab personnel, providing technical guidance and training to ensure consistent data quality. Lead the preparation of detailed testing reports and technical documentation, and contribute to project proposals for complex geotechnical assignments. Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and external partners to support project delivery.
Ensure all laboratory instrumentation remains calibrated and operational through routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Support proficiency programs including CCIL and MTO assessments, and uphold compliance with ASTM and CSA testing standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing geotechnical laboratory operations
- Hands-on ability with concrete, aggregate, and soils testing equipment
- Familiarity with ASTM and CSA testing protocols
- Experience in calibrating and maintaining lab instruments
- Strong organizational skills for managing sample inventories and equipment logs
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff
- Skill in preparing technical reports and project proposals
- Experience leading QA/QC field testing teams
Work Environment
This role is based in Panama City, Panama, with on-site responsibilities in a laboratory and field testing setting. The position supports local infrastructure projects requiring reliable, standards-compliant materials testing.
