The QA/QC Engineer ensures construction projects adhere to quality standards and client expectations by implementing international quality systems and procedures. This role involves developing and maintaining quality management systems, inspecting materials, and verifying compliance with project specifications and IMS protocols.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project QA/QC Manager or Senior QA/QC Engineer in executing the site’s quality management system according to the approved Project Quality Plan and IMS procedures.
- Create and submit work inspection requests (WIR) for every construction activity to ensure full coverage of on-site work.
- Inspect all incoming materials to verify compliance with project specifications and approved submittals.
- Track WIRs and test reports, providing regular updates to the Quality Manager and site personnel on inspection status.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee QA/QC plans, methods statements, and test plans before and during project execution to meet quality goals and client requirements.
- Ensure document control procedures are followed and that all approved consultant documents are distributed via the document control system.
- Review the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), confirming that all required method statements and test plans are submitted as per the approved ITP schedule.
- Generate work inspection requests for each construction phase and submit them to the consultant to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Verify that inspections are conducted according to plan, advise the construction team on corrective actions, and aim for 90% first-time approval rates.
- Ensure all delivered materials are inspected against project specifications and approved submittals.
- Conduct internal material inspections prior to consultant review, issue non-conformance reports (NCR) for substandard deliveries, and include inspection records in monthly quality reports.
- Monitor WIRs and test results, updating management and cross-functional teams including construction, planning, quantity surveying, and cost control on job progress.
- Maintain detailed records of all work and material inspections and present data during weekly progress meetings.
- Document all test results and ensure mill certificates are available and accessible for steel materials.
- Ensure test logs are maintained and aligned with the approved testing matrix for all required tests.
- Verify daily concrete pour cards are completed, with copies provided to the storekeeper for SRV generation and to cost controllers or quantity surveyors.
- Support HSE initiatives by participating in safety programs and contributing to incident reporting and resolution in line with company and IMS policies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 9001, QCS, SMACNA, ASHRAE, and NFPA
- In-depth understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
- Proficiency in ERP systems, with functional SAP skills required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or Civil Engineering
Nice to Have
- Two years of experience in the GCC region is advantageous
- Professional certification such as MMUP Engineer Registration (UPDA), Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 or equivalent), or ASQC (CQM/CQE) is preferred
