Kimley-Horn is hiring a Project Manager - Civil Engineer - Land Development

About the Role

The selected candidate will manage civil design aspects of land development initiatives, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and design of land development infrastructure
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget for civil engineering deliverables
  • Coordinate with surveyors, planners, and environmental specialists
  • Prepare and review site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Oversee preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Conduct feasibility studies and site evaluations
  • Facilitate client meetings and presentations
  • Manage permitting processes with municipal and regulatory agencies
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Review calculations and engineering analyses for accuracy
  • Support business development through client engagement
  • Track project progress and adjust timelines as needed
  • Ensure quality control across all project documentation
  • Assist in proposal development and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate with contractors during construction phases
  • Address field issues and provide engineering solutions
  • Maintain familiarity with industry standards and best practices
  • Utilize civil design software for modeling and documentation
  • Promote sustainable design principles in project planning

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with large-scale mixed-use developments
  • Background in sustainable design or green infrastructure
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows
  • Leadership in professional engineering organizations
  • Experience in multiple geographic markets
  • Advanced skills in project scheduling tools
  • Track record of client retention and satisfaction
  • Presentations at industry conferences or publications
