Tecmilenio is seeking a Professor-Fellow in Urban Economics to join the Center for the Future of Cities. In this role, you will advance applied research on critical urban issues in Mexico, including affordable housing, land-use regulation, and city fiscal health. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to produce rigorous work that influences policy and urban development.
What You'll Do
- Publish original research in high-impact, indexed journals such as Scopus/SSCI.
- Attract and manage competitive research funding from national and international sources.
- Participate in strategic projects focused on urban regulation, city expansion costs, and housing affordability.
- Develop new research lines and consolidate a research group in urban economics.
- Conduct applied research that connects theory, empirical evidence, and policy recommendations.
What We're Looking For
- A PhD in Economics with a dissertation related to urban economics topics.
- A completed Job Market Paper in an urban economics topic.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in research teams.
- Strong quantitative training.
Nice to Have
- A PhD in Urban Studies, provided you hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Economics.
- Experience or familiarity with general equilibrium models, spatial analysis, and econometric modeling.
Team & Environment
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of urban planners at the Center for the Future of Cities.
Work Mode
This is a local-city role based at our campuses in Guadalajara, Mexico City, or Monterrey.
