Banner Health, a Great Place To Work® Certified organization, is hiring a Profee Complex Coder Orthopedic. In this role, you will evaluate medical records and provide clinical abstraction for a full range of complex professional services, with a focus on orthopedic surgeries and hospital E&M coding. Your work ensures accurate coding, reimbursement, and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Analyze medical information from records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural data.
- Consult with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate information.
- Abstract clinical diagnoses, procedure codes, and other pertinent information into electronic medical records.
- Provide quality assurance to ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations.
- Compile daily and monthly reports and tabulate data for research or analysis.
- Identify validation edits and revision issues to ensure compliant coding.
- Recognize and distinguish complex diagnoses and procedures to ensure accurate reimbursement.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent, plus specialized formal training equivalent to a two-year certification course in medical record keeping, anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, and coding.
- Active certification: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT from AHIMA or AAPC.
- Minimum three years of recent experience in complex professional coding within the specialty.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote setting using common office programs, coding software, and abstracting systems.
Nice to Have
- COSC Certification.
- Specialty Certification (e.g., Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) if in Imaging space).
- Experience in a large, multi-system physician practice.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
