Bank of New Zealand is hiring a Product Owner to join our health insurance team. You will manage and optimize the full product lifecycle, ensuring solutions meet business goals and customer needs. This role balances business priorities with internal capabilities, requiring close collaboration with technology scrum teams to drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of health insurance products, ensuring alignment with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, collaborating with cross-functional teams including operations, compliance, marketing, and IT.
- Maintain and prioritize a product backlog in collaboration with technology scrum teams, providing necessary business input to inform development roadmaps.
- Balance competing demands from business stakeholders and internal capabilities, making data-driven decisions to drive product and process improvements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, marketing, and customer service teams, to gather feedback and ensure product alignment.
- Identify and implement improvements in product development, process flows, and technology systems to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Be the expert on current business-as-usual functions and systems, ensuring ongoing product performance while driving future enhancements.
- Define and track product success metrics and KPIs, ensuring products meet customer expectations and business goals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Health Insurance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, specifically within the health insurance or healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of health insurance processes, systems, and regulations.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, including backlog management and sprint planning, and the Agile SAFE Framework.
- Experience balancing business needs with internal development capabilities to drive product improvements.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across business, technology, and operational teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with product management tools such as JIRA or similar platforms.
Nice to Have
- Experience with health insurance product development, claims systems, or regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with customer journey mapping, user experience design, or UX/UI principles.
- Understanding of emerging trends in health tech and insurance technology.
