About the Role

Benchling is seeking a Product Designer, Bioprocess to design the Process Development product that enables scientists to scale recipe design, experiment planning, batch execution, and analysis. You will own the end-to-end user experience, working cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, designers, and GTM teams.

What You'll Do

  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to define product strategy, scope, and prioritization in a startup-like environment.
  • Own the design for high-impact initiatives from research, concepts, wireframing, mockups, through to implementation.
  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly to validate product directions.
  • Conduct user research and interviews to inform product direction and interactive improvements.
  • Use and contribute to evolving Design systems by collaborating with other Designers to identify gaps and design high-utility components.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Effectively communicate in a hybrid environment that balances in-person and remote work.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience driving the design of software products, ideally SaaS, with a relentless focus on the user.
  • A strong portfolio of relevant design work that conveys an ability to ship successful products.
  • A track record of working with and simplifying complex product architectures or workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain the reasoning behind complex decisions.
  • Experience contributing to a design system for complex software products.
  • Experience working with Product Management, Engineers, and fellow Designers in an agile environment.

Nice to Have

  • A background with lab work, scientific process, or healthcare.

  • Compensation range: $170,000 to $230,000.
