Mercury is looking for a Product Design Intern to embed within a product team and take real features from ideation to execution. You'll own meaningful work that ships to thousands of businesses, with direct mentorship from a senior designer.

What You'll Do

Contribute to a scoped design project, gaining exposure to research, ideation, and high-fidelity execution
Participate in design critiques, team rituals, and cross-functional collaboration
Conduct user research and usability testing to inform your design decisions
Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI in Figma
Contribute to and learn from Mercury's design system
Present your work and learnings at the end of the program

What We're Looking For

Currently pursuing a degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or a related field (graduating 2026 or 2027)
A portfolio that demonstrates strong visual & interaction design skills, clear product thinking, and attention to detail
Proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools
Curiosity about how financial products work and eagerness to learn a complex domain
Strong communication skills, you can articulate design decisions clearly in writing and conversation
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while proactively asking for feedback and clarification when needed

Nice to Have

Experience with or interest in AI-powered design tools and prototyping
Familiarity with design systems
Previous internship or project experience in fintech, SaaS, or enterprise products
Basic understanding of front-end technical constraints (Web/Native Mobile)
