Virtual Internships is hiring a Product Design Intern (Fully Remote)

Virtual Internships is looking for a Product Design Intern (Fully Remote) to shape the experience for our global community of student interns. Under the direct mentorship of the Head of Product, you’ll dive into collaborative projects, gain deep insights into user needs, and deliver products that streamline complex processes while providing an outstanding user experience.

What You'll Do

• Dive deep into user research by conducting interviews, surveys, and usability testing with interns, companies, and supervisors.
• Map user journeys and identify friction points across our global platform.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that solve real user problems.
• Collaborate daily with product managers and engineers to ship features.
• Analyze user behavior data to understand what's working and what needs improvement.
• Design for multiple stakeholders, including students, companies, supervisors, and universities.
• Participate in design critiques and iterate based on feedback.
• Maintain and evolve our design system to ensure consistency across platforms.
• Learn to balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints.

What We're Looking For

• Proficient in Figma for design and prototyping.
• Can create user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes that clearly communicate your ideas.
• Understand basic design principles like typography, color theory, layout, and accessibility.
• Familiar with design systems and component libraries, or ready to learn fast.
• Can analyze user data and translate insights into design decisions.
• Understand responsive design and how to design for multiple screen sizes.
• Ready to learn about our tech stack to understand implementation constraints.
• Can present your design thinking clearly to stakeholders across the organization.
• Get excited about solving complex user problems that span multiple user types.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and changing requirements as we learn more about our users.
• Believe great design is invisible—it just works seamlessly for users.
• Ready to handle feedback and iterate repeatedly on your designs.
• Have the persistence to dig deep into user problems and find elegant solutions.
• Can balance creativity with practical constraints.
• Excited about both the big picture user experience and the tiny interaction details.
• Can manage your time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines.
• Committed to showing up 30-35 hours every week, ready to learn and contribute.

Nice to Have

• Experience building EdTech products for global students.
• Worked at a Series A or Series B scaleup.

Team & Environment

You'll join a 15+ member product and engineering organization and report directly to the Head of Product. This is an internship within our collaborative product and engineering team.
