Sonoco, a world leader in global packaging solutions, is hiring a Process Technician for our 2nd Shift. You will be responsible for performing tasks necessary to provide high quality, efficient, and timely production and shipment of Sonoco products by running machines from different lines. Excellent attendance is crucial for team success.
What You'll Do
- Monitor operations process, work, and material flow to ensure that quality and customer specifications are met.
- Report accurate production numbers.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities, including running tests and trial runs as needed.
- Perform tool changes and repairs as needed, while following all HECP LOTO procedures.
- Perform and/or assign all quality checks, including burst testing, salinity, and weights.
- Communicate with maintenance and vendors on supplies needed and work orders.
- Organize all tooling, maintaining it in labeled storage locations.
- Meet production goals set by Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and Plant.
- Direct Inspectors/Packers to efficient use of labor and to minimize costs.
What We're Looking For
- Sufficient mechanical skill necessary to troubleshoot and fix machine issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously as needed.
- Reliable, with good initiative, committed, and quality focused.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
- Able to perform repetitious duties, including standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
