Gcore is hiring a Principal Support Engineer (L3, Edge Network)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the final escalation point for intricate technical problems related to content delivery and edge networking.
  • Investigate and resolve advanced issues concerning caching mechanisms, DNS configurations, routing protocols, load distribution, SSL/TLS encryption, and web security frameworks.
  • Lead the response to high-priority incidents (P1/P2), coordinating with engineering, network, and operations teams to achieve resolution.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts and help implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Evaluate traffic behavior, caching effectiveness, and node-level performance to enhance content delivery efficiency.
  • Assist in executing production changes, scheduled maintenance, and software updates.
  • Offer technical leadership and coaching to junior and mid-level support engineers.
  • Develop and maintain internal documentation, operational runbooks, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Engage in post-incident reviews and contribute to ongoing service improvements.
  • Work standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM), with on-call availability for critical incidents outside these times.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in technical support, network engineering, or systems engineering roles.
  • Solid grasp of content delivery network and edge infrastructure principles, including caching strategies, points of presence, and traffic routing.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, BGP, and load balancing techniques.
  • Proven experience administering and troubleshooting Linux or Unix environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring platforms and log analysis tools like Grafana, Kibana, or Splunk.
  • Ability to assess complex system failures and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient English communication skills at B2 level or higher.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality and strong analytical problem-solving capabilities.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with major CDN providers such as Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Amazon CloudFront.
  • Understanding of DDoS protection, web application firewall (WAF), and edge-layer security practices.
  • Experience in automation or scripting using languages like Python or Bash.
