Skyworks is hiring a Principal Quality Engineer within its Foundry Operations Engineering group. In this role, you will work with world-class foundries to deliver process and device technologies for RF, CMOS, SOI, and BCD products, focusing on maximizing yield while maintaining performance and cost with a zero-defect mindset.
What You'll Do
- Ensure foundry suppliers meet Skyworks quality requirements and standards.
- Drive continuous improvement aligned with corporate and quality objectives from key foundries.
- Initiate SCAPA/8D problem-solving for foundry-related issues and lead cross-functional teams on root cause analysis.
- Monitor and improve process capability (Cpk) and defect performance from foundry suppliers.
- Collaborate with foundry suppliers and internal engineering on yield improvement, process stability, defect reduction, outlier detection, and test coverage optimization.
- Manage Process Change Notices (PCNs) through the TRB and CCB approval process.
- Lead regular audits of supplier foundries’ processes, products, and systems.
- Act as the foundry supplier quality representative in internal and external audits.
- Maintain accurate internal quality system records and KPI reports, including SCAPA/8D, change orders, audits, and NCMR notifications.
- Develop and track the Foundry Quality scorecard for Supplier Development Reviews.
- Monitor and update the Foundry Quality Dashboard regularly.
- Support new technology and product introductions at the foundry, including clean launch data collection.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, or Material Science).
- At least 10-15 years of experience in the semiconductor wafer manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in 8D processes and structured problem-solving techniques like 3x5 WHYs.
- Fundamental understanding of wafer fabrication processes (e.g., etching, deposition, photolithography).
- Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for internal and external collaboration.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Ability to travel predominantly within Asia.
Nice to Have
- Past experience working in a semiconductor wafer fab or foundry.
- Experience as a Supplier, Manufacturing Quality, or Customer Quality Engineer in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of DMAIC methodology; green belt or black belt certification is a plus.
