About the Role

Puget Sound Energy is hiring a Principal Financial Analyst to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses for short-, mid-, and long-term financial planning. You will lead the development of interdepartmental consensus on analytical assumptions and approaches, playing a key role in shaping the company's financial strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in and facilitate the annual creation and ongoing evaluation of the corporate mid and long-term financial plan.
  • Help develop corporate financial strategy by interfacing with management and building consensus on modeling assumptions.
  • Develop comprehensive financial models and various ad-hoc strategic analyses.
  • Contribute to or lead the delivery of recommendations from analyses and communicate action plans to stakeholders.
  • Develop consensus around analytical approaches and cultivate ties across business groups.
  • Produce presentations for finance management committees and the Board of Directors.
  • Continually improve forecast integrity using internal and external information resources and data analytics.
  • Promote best practices of modeling techniques, methodologies, controls, and documentation.
  • Provide analytic direction to the business case team by structuring analytical problems and summarizing results.
  • Promote accountability of financial assumptions and results across the organization.
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff in the development and analysis of corporate financial plans.
  • Support various rate proceedings by answering data requests.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in finance roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision in a fast paced, stressful, and multitasking environment.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA.
  • Applicable Finance Certification (CFA, CPA, CTP).
  • 5+ years of experience in the gas and/or electric industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and create capacity.
  • Ability to adapt and react to unforeseen business decisions and situations.
  • Experience leading and delivering projects under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Utilities International financial modeling tool.
