Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to join our mission-driven technology team. You will act as a strategic leader and hands-on contributor, shaping the future of our scalable, secure cloud infrastructure and ensuring platform stability, performance, and compliance in the healthcare data space.
What You'll Do
- Architect and maintain secure, scalable, HIPAA- and HITRUST-compliant infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
- Define best practices and lead DevOps strategy for CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Build and manage containerized environments using Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, and self-hosted).
- Develop Python-based scripts to automate testing, validation, and deployment workflows.
- Drive the design and adoption of a custom cloud deployment platform to enable continuous delivery.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and security teams to deliver robust infrastructure solutions.
- Promote DevOps excellence across the organization through mentorship, guidance, and best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in software development or infrastructure engineering with a focus on architecture and system design.
- Expertise in cloud platforms, especially AWS.
- Strong Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals.
- Experience implementing CI/CD with tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Travis.
- Proficient in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, and Terraform.
- Deep understanding of application architecture, deployment workflows, and DevOps methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, team-first mindset and leadership capabilities.
Nice to Have
- Azure experience is a plus.
