Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Principal Data Engineer to define the future of our data capabilities. You will architect and deliver scalable, secure, and intelligent data systems that power real-time services, advanced analytics, and impactful decision-making across our organization.

What You'll Do

Lead the design and implementation of resilient, scalable data systems across streaming, batch, and real-time use cases.
Architect data pipelines, models, and storage solutions leveraging Python, SQL, and cloud-based orchestration tooling.
Apply AI and automation to optimize data engineering processes and improve performance.
Establish and enforce best practices around data governance, infrastructure, security, and observability.
Partner with engineers, analysts, and product teams to ensure coherent delivery of data-driven features and services.
Champion the adoption of data engineering principles and mentor team members.
Evaluate, validate, and promote new technologies to enhance data platform stability and scalability.

What We're Looking For

Extensive experience delivering Python-based projects within the data engineering domain.
Strong background in SQL and NoSQL databases such as SQL Server, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
Proven expertise with modern data warehousing and large-scale processing tools such as Snowflake, DBT, BigQuery, or ClickHouse.
Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
Proficiency in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) for large-scale data processing and storage.
Experience with event-driven architectures like Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Azure EventHubs.
Solid understanding of data architecture and modeling for OLAP and OLTP workloads.
Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
Demonstrated leadership as a Principal or Lead Engineer on large-scale initiatives, including platform modernization or cloud migrations.

Nice to Have

Experience with ClickHouse or Databricks.
