Catalyst Family is hiring a Preschool Associate Teacher to support the planning and implementation of our programming for children ranging from infant to school age. You will facilitate age-appropriate activities, support social-emotional development, and ensure a safe, supervised environment.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum supported by learning foundations connected to children's interests.
- Create, implement, and maintain intentional, enriched, and supportive learning environments and quality experiences.
- Provide excellent customer service by establishing authentic, culturally responsive relationships with children, youth, families, schools, and team.
- Keep children healthy and safe through proper supervision, positive interactions, healthy habits, and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff to provide high-quality programs and creative workplaces.
- Demonstrate positive interactions with children and youth.
- Maintain kind, respectful, and safe emotional and physical environments for children.
- Be active in outdoor and indoor programs.
- Be physically and mentally capable of interacting with children up to 13 years old.
- Implement safety guidelines and report health and safety issues; remain calm during emergencies.
- Visually inspect environments for hazards and implement preventative actions.
- Push, lift, carry, and hold various objects up to 15 lbs individually or as a team.
- Work inside or outside in all weather conditions safe for children.
- Traverse various terrains like grass, blacktop, and dirt, and work at heights like ladders and playgrounds.
- Adapt to the physical level of children, including sitting on the floor, kneeling, and squatting.
- Supervise field trips to destinations like aquatic parks, beaches, and trampoline parks.
What We're Looking For
- 12-24 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in ECE, Child Development, or a related field with grades of C- or better.
- Or an Associate Teacher Permit or above issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Nice to Have
- 6-12 months of experience in a group care environment for a consistent age group.
- Current adult and infant/child CPR & First Aid certification.
- Bilingual or multilingual language skills based on center needs.
