Ball Corporation, a world leader in manufacturing sustainable aluminum packaging and recipient of Newsweek's 2023 Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplace award, is looking for a Plant Quality Assurance Manager. In this role, you will manage the plant quality assurance function, maintain a safe work environment, and oversee the food safety system to meet customer requirements.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safe work environment by correcting unsafe acts, conducting inspections, and investigating accidents.
- Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the food safety system.
- Direct and coordinate quality assurance activities within the plant and with the group office.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures, methods, and equipment to meet customer needs.
- Manage a customer relations program for quality matters at the plant.
- Direct quality training and development programs for the plant quality assurance department.
- Analyze quality areas, including goals, problems, defective materials, and customer claims, advising management of results.
- Oversee the application of the Infinity system within the plant, if applicable.
- Work with material suppliers on quality issues and cost reductions.
- Administer customer and vendor claim reimbursement systems.
- Conduct leaker awareness training at the customer level.
- Access and manage information from computer systems.
- Initiate, review, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area.
- Foster an employee relations climate of trust and confidence.
- Maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company.
- Work a regular Monday-Friday schedule, with potential for weekends, overtime, and on-call duties.
- Comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental requirements.
- Respond effectively to EC directions during emergencies.
- Adhere to established job safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Minimize waste generation by recognizing waste streams and managing materials properly.
- Comply with environmental regulations when handling all materials and wastes.
- Prepare, coordinate, and conduct internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of action items.
- Coordinate customer, corporate, and cross-departmental trials at the plant.
- Perform internal mock recalls to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Lead quality investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Oversee the Hold for Inspection (HFI) and embargo processes; develop and execute action plans to reduce occurrences.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends for continuous improvement; develop and execute improvement plans.
What We're Looking For
- Broad training in a related field acquired through college or work-related experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of job-related experience.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Pest control program experience.
- Certifications or experience with GMPs, SQF, BRC, ISO, FSSC, and HACCP.
Team & Environment
You will manage the plant quality assurance function and coordinate with the group office.
