Design integrated systems that protect people, property, and assets from physical threats, spanning from initial concept through installation. Work closely with project management, IT, architects, builders, and facility managers. Must be self-motivated, reliable, and capable of solving problems independently.
Responsibilities
- Create integrated security solutions incorporating IP-based video surveillance, cloud-hosted management systems, and biometric or credential-based access control technologies.
- Write project specifications and generate comprehensive technical reports.
- Perform on-site assessments to confirm field conditions and support design accuracy.
- Produce 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD and develop 3D models in Revit.
- Generate floor plans, wiring diagrams, and mounting details that show how security technology integrates with building infrastructure.
- Participate in design coordination meetings with architects, MEP engineers, and general contractors to avoid conflicts with other building systems.
- Work with Sales Engineers during pre-construction phases to define initial project scope.
- Support the Estimating Team by providing accurate material and labor inputs for large project bids.
- Apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) in a collaborative setting to enable concurrent design and optimal placement of security devices.
- Perform design reviews to verify compliance with local building codes, life safety regulations, and client-specific security standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of documented experience in security system design or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of Physical Access Control Systems including S2, Lenel S2, Hirsch, and cloud-native platforms such as Verkada.
- Strong working knowledge of Video Management Systems such as Genetec, Axis Camera Station, and the Brivo/Eagle Eye Networks ecosystem.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Revit for producing detailed MEP layouts and 3D security system models.
- Experience using Salesforce for customer relationship management and ServiceNow for service operations workflows.
