Jobgether is looking for a Photonics Engineer to work on the photonic circuits that form the backbone of advanced quantum computing systems. You will translate complex thermo-optical device behavior into actionable insights, generating technical reports and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to influence the performance and scalability of photonic ICs.
What You'll Do
- Analyze test data from thermo-optical devices and generate detailed technical reports summarizing performance, trends, and key metrics.
- Translate complex device physics into actionable insights to support design iterations and optimization efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including layout engineers, foundry partners, and systems integration groups to ensure smooth design handoffs.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for photonic circuits for clear communication across diverse technical audiences.
- Identify performance trends, failure modes, and optimization opportunities to improve device reliability and efficiency.
- Participate in technical discussions to inform product development decisions and support innovation in photonic systems.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of industry experience in photonics or related fields.
- Strong expertise in thermo-optical design, thermal phase shifters, and integrated photonic circuits.
- Proficiency in data analysis and technical reporting, preferably using Python and version control tools such as Git/GitLab.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, capable of explaining complex device physics concepts to diverse teams.
- Experience with silicon photonics processes and understanding device physics from design files and process documentation.
- Basic knowledge of electrical design principles, particularly Joule heating in resistive elements.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments and collaborate effectively across teams.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with mechanical design considerations, stress/strain analysis, or suspended micro-scale structures.

- Compensation: $130,000–$145,000 USD (U.S. base) or $150,000–$170,000 USD (Bay Area).
